Our Vision
Our vision here at Backyard Built is to bring back classic, tech-free childhood. One in which children spend lazy hours outdoors, cheeks rosy from the fresh air, and only skip up the back steps when the fireflies start to twinkle and the street lights blink on. Our playhouses will help each child rediscover the beauty of nature and the delight of the outdoors. Because we believe that the simple life is the good life.
Regardless of the size of your yard, our playhouses will introduce a renewed sense of carefree adventure to your family life. Each playhouse comes equipped with an electric hookup, so your children can continue their play even after the stars come out. A kitchen sink complete with running water aids imaginative play and makes it possible to wash up little hands outdoors. The only screens we feature are the ones in our operable windows which allow gentle breezes to blow in while keeping pests at bay.
If you are looking for the perfect Montessori experience for your little ones, this is it! But here at Backyard Built we simply call it
good old-fashioned fun.
Our Story
Welcome! We are Doug and Gina Miller, a husband and wife team. We have three children who make our life exciting with all their energy and curiosity.
This business idea first started as a quarantine project in 2020, when Doug decided to use his extra free time and a few scrap items from his construction day job to build a playhouse for his girls. The process was such an enjoyable experience, that it planted in him a dream to one day make luxury playhouses to sell. Here we are three years later with a side hustle doing just that. Construction has always been a passion of Doug's and design is a passion of Gina's, so Backyard Built is the perfect blend of our two hobbies.
